How much do our current benchmark indicators (e.g. SBA delivery and ANC coverage) tell us about how well our programs are performing?
 
Why is it important to get the right set of indicators for tracking program performance?
 
Our very own Steve Hodgins presented on various Global Benchmark Indicators at the recent Global Maternal Health Conference in New Delhi, India and here’s what he had to say:
 
1.            The specific indicators used send a strong message to program managers on what to focus on
 
2.            Unless our global benchmark indicators include good measures of content and quality, program managers may give less attention to these areas than they need to be.
 
Because what we measure is what we pay attention to!
