Engaging Communities to Help Mothers and Newborns: MaMoni Experience from Bangladesh

 
Rowshon Jahan presented at the Global Maternal Health Conference in New Delhi, India how instrumental community mobilization activities have been in Bangladesh for the MaMoni Project. Some key lessons learned include:

  • Appropriate community entry is essential for successful community interventions
  • Sharing real stories and results increase community engagement
  • Men and women can work together to mobilize their communities, even in conservative ones
  • Communities can be mobilized without any material or financial incentives
