This month, Save the Children launched the thirteenth annual State of the World’s Mothers report. In addition to including standard information—such as the annual "Mothers’ Index," which ranks the best and worst places to be a mother in 165 countries—the report focuses on the importance of nutrition during the first 1,000 days between pregnancy and a child’s second birthday.
The report highlights the life-long effects of malnutrition and provides specific recommendations on how to combat it. This incudes the use of frontline health workers, who can reach children in remote communities with lifesaving early interventions.
